The Journey to 1,000 Episodes: One Step at a Time

The Journey to 1,000 Episodes: One Step at a Time

When I launched the Audacious Living Podcast in late 2020, I had no roadmap—just a vision to explore the essence of audacity. I didn't know where each step would lead, but I believed in the power of starting. That belief became the foundation of the podcast: taking bold steps without knowing exactly where they'd take me.

In the early days, each episode was a leap into the unknown. But with every conversation, every guest, and every shared story, momentum began to build. I started to think bigger. One afternoon, I sat down with my son, AJ, and we did the math. If I kept going at the pace I was on, I could reach 1,000 episodes by 2027. It felt audacious—and that’s exactly what made the journey worthwhile.

Just before hitting my 500th episode, I had a conversation with a guest who mentioned that the vast majority of podcasts don’t make it past 10 episodes. When he told me that, I literally laughed out loud. I had long since surpassed that number and yet, at the time, I had no real end goal in sight. That moment made me pause and reflect on how far audacity—and simply showing up—can take you.

Along the way, I’ve learned a bunch of really important lessons that continue to influence the way I show up in the world - here's three key ones:

1. Momentum Matters More Than Perfection

When I started, I didn’t have a perfect plan. I just took the first step—and then the next. Episode by episode, momentum grew, and that momentum turned uncertainty into opportunity. Showing up consistently is often more important than knowing exactly where you’re going.

2. Audacity Means Embracing the Unknown

Audacity isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about starting anyway. From day one, I didn’t know how far this podcast would go. But daring to take that first step—and every step after—allowed the journey to unfold in ways I never could have planned.

3. Perspective Changes Everything

Hitting milestones like the 500th episode taught me to step back and appreciate how far I’ve come. Hearing that most podcasts don’t survive past 10 episodes was both humbling and exhilarating. Sometimes, recognizing your own progress is as powerful as setting future goals.

This journey isn’t just about numbers. It’s about showing up consistently, embracing the unknown, and daring to see how far audacity can take you. Each episode is a step, each guest a lesson, each story a reminder that progress is built one action at a time.

So here's to the journey—to the first step, the second, and the 999 to come. To everyone listening, thank you for being part of this audacious adventure. And to anyone reading this: take your first step today. Momentum is waiting for you.
