The people who are most successful in life are those who consistently persevere through adversity and turn their despair into opportunity regardless the circumstances. Life is an ongoing ebb and flow of good times and hardship. — if you’re living, you’re not immune from facing adversity every so often. The is having an inextinguishable why to motivate you when life gets tough. Adversity and setbacks become easier to overcome when you have a clearly defined purpose. Without a strong reason of why you are pursuing something in the first place, you’re giving adversity the power to completely knock you off of your journey to success.

My friends, no matter what you are facing in your life and your business, if you persevere, you can also overcome any obstacle.

“I did not think about what could happen to me. I only envisioned what a better day for me would look like. I imagined the day that I would reunite with my family, the day that we are free from this and I just believed that a better day was coming.”

Sara Im grew up in Cambodia and was held captive by the Khmer Rouge Communist regime at the age of 21 from 1975-1979. In four years, approximately 2 million people sadly died of homicide, diseases & starvation in the Killing Fields of Cambodia, similar to the mass genocide of the Jewish in World War II.

She endured very harsh working conditions putting in very long hours in the rice fields under the intense hot Cambodian sun where she was given very little food or sleep and this led to Sara developing an illness. She prayed every day for God's and to give her courage to overcome and Sara would eventually find the strength to make a dangerous escape along with three of her friends.

Sara has chronicled her story of hope, love and determination in her book, “How I Survived the Killing Fields” and joins Audley on The Audacious Living Podcast to share her powerful story of perseverance, the life and death situation she was able to endure and discuss how she was able to maintain her focus on survival.
